Formerly Watten Firewood... we're now accepting firewood orders for delivery late summer 2026... the earlier you order, the bigger the discount!
🌿
ailiss (sometimes spelt aillis) is an old Caithness word to describe a blazing fire
🌿
We sell our ailiss logs in net bags delivered right to your woodstore using our trusty spanker OR by bulk orders of loose fill longer split lengths tipped at your property
🌿
Net bags are stack-packed with split logs just like we did with Watten Firewood's barrow bags. The smaller bags are easier to handle, transport and store... offering more flexibility and reduced carbon footprint - netted bags can be stacked higher than a barrow bag allowing us to transport more and you to stow more away in dry places
🌿
Our timber is dried as standing timber in a process known as souring. Once harvested and split the drying process is finished by solar kiln-drying, which means we don't burn wood to dry wood. Instead, we exploit a combination of the sun and wind. Lodgepole pine and Sitka spruce seasoned to <20% moisture content
🌿
Our woodland croft follows a seasonal cycle; whether we are felling and extracting timber, splitting firewood, delivering or preparing the ground for replanting, we have different tasks to do at different times of the year
🌿
Late autumn through to early spring we plant, fell and extract for our annual supply window.
🌿
Sustainability is at the heart of our forestry operations as all our timber is sourced from Bilbster Forest.
This year we will supply a total of 250m3 of wood fuel
🌿
Please order no later than 30 April 2026 should we not reach our limit before then. This guarantees delivery between 19th August and 9th October. The earlier you order the bigger the discount!
20% off in February, 15% in March,
10% in April
🌿
Buying firewood this year guarantees you first refusal for the following year as we look to build long-term business with our customer base year on year
🌿
We appreciate it is impossible to forecast your firewood consumption for the following winter. We want to work with you to ensure you can store enough firewood for a hard winter
🌿
Then you can just top up your firewood stash each autumn. For storage solutions see our drocht firewood stores
